i seem to have recently developed

a pretty acute and intense case of

‘knitting adhd’ (aka: multi-project tasking with the emphasis on ‘multi’).

i knit a little on what’s in project bag ‘a’,

then, feeling antsy, i move on to the contents of project bag ‘b’.

soon enough, project bag ‘c’ becomes like the ‘grass that’s always greener’

and i’m off and running.

along those lines,

it’s time to hunker down and make a decision.

these three colors are what i’m sure of:

IMG_3491cropthe orange i have is a tad darker, the gold a bit lighter,

but you get the idea.

so then the question becomes

what’s the main color (mc)?  and what % of the other two works best?

it started out as rectangles.

the idea was one rectangle of color inside the next

like children’s stacking blocks.

then my mind drifted to asymmetrical placement.

this leads to more questions:  duplicate stitch or intarsia or embriodery?

what do i most want to do?

being a process knitter, what will be the most fun?

then there’s creating a meaningful motif vs a detour into whimsical?

should there be alternatives?

will something more blank slate-ish give

other knitters more room to play themselves?

it’s a bit of a rabbit hole, and i’ve been just enjoying the trip

but now it’s time to man up and decide…

to go any farther means firming up the direction.

soon.  hmmm.

  1. So many questions, so few answers-LOL. Just go with the flow and the knitting ADHD will settle down and just think, you’ll be making progress on all projects. love colors. How about a 50 -25-25 with orange being the main color? Have fun!

    • i feel like a ‘jack of all’ projects, ‘master of none’. i am making headway on a lot of different things, though. you’ve so got that right. will remember to breathe, just breathe.

  2. I’m currently avoiding the vest that is almost finished. I’ve made a cowl, a pair of mittens, Rivi mittens, another cowl, and not touched the vest. Today I started planning more projects, instead of working on the vest. Now I have startitis. badly. I need to finish the vest before spring comes and it’s too warm to wear it! I’d love to have it finished! But there’s a really interesting pattern for……

    • oh, i so feel for you. been there. am almost there now. but, i just might finish something tonight. then maybe i can turn my whole track lately around. hope so. what vest you making? i bet it’ll look great on you when you get it done…

      • I’m making Sandy, from Quince and Co., very simple, very ‘”me”. I stopped after knitting along quickly, because the hem was flipping up. I blocked just the hem area, and it will lie flat so it’s ready to finish! If only I could regain my enthusiasm. LOL Now I’m knitting Howl Cat!

        • i really like the lines of that vest, esp the extra simple touch of the garter stitch at the side seams. nice. i’m finishing up the grey/orange/yellow pattern and starting to think that i should have gone with grey/red/oatmeal instead. might have to do another one and see which i like best…smile.
