outer lines

i took just one art class in college.  basic drawing.

(i am a late bloomer, to say the least, and hadn’t yet realized that

creating would energize, expand and rock my world.)

we drew still lifes and (fully clothed) live models.

while my peers were perfecting

the curve of a finger or

the shape of an eye,

i was contentedly stuck

in the mud of the negative spaces,

the particularly non-model parts of the compositions.

i am just now branching out

(no pun, well okay – a little pun intended)

and including this concept  into my knitting designs.

you can catch my first attempt at capturing negative space

tomorrow, as ‘duplicity’ is released in the winter issue of knitcircus.

‘duplicity’ taken from 20:23 in luke.
