combo

the thing about collaborations

is that the end result is some bits of one person and some of another.

when it works,

the leap from one piece to the next has a weightless feeling to it

and the landing

is smooth.

when it does not,

the feeling is jagged and edgy when you did not mean it to be.

on the cd b. dropped off earlier this week,

i hear pieces of him and pieces of me

and sometimes the transition from one to the other is poetically loud

but, maybe only to me.

maybe just because i know us both so very well.

‘stay’ sounds the most like i wanted it to

and i like it.
