truly, an old beat up
wooden bowl.
i’ve had it so long that i
no longer remember where it came from.
now it’s gotten
a ‘yarn makeover’ and
it’s so cool.
as i’m shopping for Christmas gifts
i always seem to find things
that i want for me.
so, i allow myself to give myself one gift.
and, because i know me, i give it to me early so i don’t have to wait.
this year i gave myself the book
‘knits at home: rustic designs for the modern nest‘.
at first glance it is just another knitting pattern book,
there are some patterns
and even more suggestions
of how you might apply
what the book’s patterns teach you.
right off by the cables hooked me.
this is the busy season, though, so i started something simple first,
the ‘ribbed fruit bowl cover’.
measure your bowl, do the easy math,
then it’s straightforward ribbing all the way home.
much more than the sum of its parts.
who knew that two leftover skeins of yarn
(i held vista and chalet together)
& an old 2nd hand bowl
could look like this?
merry Christmas, to me.
That’s a brilliant pattern! I must look up the book. 🙂 Your old bowl has been reclaimed recovered and is now very special. I love it!!
i will be on the hunt later this week for more bowls to cover. it’s so quick and fun and i think filled with the right stuff they’d make really cool gifts…
